A.A.C. Meet the Team
I’ve been a keen angler since I was knee high to a tadpole and carp angling seriously since 1968. I became the Head Bailiff of WDAA in 1978 and have caught carp up to 58lb 1oz (mirror) and 48lb 8 oz (common).
I’ve been involved in numerous DVDs including my own ‘Carp Luv Em’ DVD also TV appearances with Matt Hayes and Danny Baker on the 6 O’clock Show.
During my time I’ve always worked with charities through fishing and helped raise large amounts for Cancer and Motor Neurons Disease.
For my sins I’ve been elected as the Chairman of the Anglers Against Cancer which is a small group of the countrys finest lads and lasses. I’m lucky enough to count each and everyone one of them as my friends something I value enormously.
Last year they were responsible for raising over £50,000 from just two angling events one of which was at Orchid. It didn’t just happen they had to work their hearts out to raise much needed awareness and money for the chosen charity which was Bowel Cancer.
This year it was agreed that we would support a smaller charity for children with cancer which relys more on donations than direct funding.
I used to sea fish on the forts in the Solent for Conger Eels, when I lived as a teenager on the IOW. Working full time doesn’t give me as much time to fish with Ronnie, but we have had our moments including bombing around Belgium in a VW Camper Van with our 2 children, Stephen and Theresa looking for areas to Carp fish.
Love reading a book whilst Ron happily does his bit fishing, especially in Thailand where it is warm and accommodation/friends are great, and of course watching Ron showing our Grandson William the ropes.
Have been known to do the odd Match on WDAA waters many moons ago, good at casting, but impatient in checking rigs/baits every 10 mins – best to leave it to Him Who Knows Best – love him
Did raise the most monies for charity when Ron won at Broadwater many years ago, and love the opportunity to help in any way again to raise monies for a very worthy cause AAC.
So beware my Bucket, Jo xxx
